Bridgewater & Albion 37 Canterbury 17
A WEEK can be a long time in rugby as Canterbury found to their cost on this unproductive journey to Somerset.
The side that displayed such vibrant form against league leaders Southend found themselves on the receiving end, outplayed by a Bridgwater outfit who were value for their victory.
The hosts had the bigger appetite, knew how to play the pitch and sticky conditions and pressurised Canterbury into too many basic errors. A simple but clever kicking strategy served them well and it was a lesson the visitors failed to absorb.
By half time Bridgwater were 22 points in front, helped by two charge down tries, and well on the way to a maximum return.
The city club may have shaded a messy second half, but tries by Jamie Forsyth, Andy Pratt and James Reilly, plus a Reilly penalty and conversion, were never going to be enough.
Canterbury: Wolmarans, Pratt, Reilly, Sykes, Melford, De Kock, Woodbridge (repl Knuckey), Forsyth, Goode (repl Apps), Pinnick, Keir, Alexander, Hinkins, Smith (repl Hussey), O'Gorman.
