Kent Cricket chief executive Jamie Clifford insists there is no “doom and gloom” at the club, despite their on-field woes.
Kent are winless and bottom of the table at the midway stage of both the LV= County Championship Division 2 and Friends Life t20 South Division while they retain only a slim hope of qualifying for the knockout stages of the Yorkshire Bank 40 with four games left.
But Mr Clifford said the club remain positive about the second half of the season.
“It’s easy to get into doom and gloom but the club is certainly not in that place. We remain positive and focused,” he said.
“We’re not going to lie down and accept things. The whole group is working hard. The players and the coaching staff retain our full support. You go through tough times in any sport and we are experiencing one.
“We don’t need crisis meetings or big summits. The coach and captain are working hard. We want to win every game but we have belief in them. They are going through processes and looking to find solutions.
“We empower them to make the decisions and do not want to undermine their efforts.
“We want to give them space to make their decisions but not to isolate them completely. We’re always here as a sounding board.”
