KENT skipper David Fulton was dismissed without scoring after making a surprise return to the fold for his side’s Cheltenham and Gloucester Trophy tie with Gloucestershire today.

The 31-year-old batsman went to the crease for the first time last week playing for Kent's second team against Warwickshire in Beckenham – his first innings since a freak, practice session eye injury back in April.

Today he was out after facing just three balls.

Though Fulton’s right eye is still healing, he claimed four catches in the match at Beckenham but was ultimately disappointed in scoring just eight runs in his two innings in the game.

He initially scheduled a first team comeback for next month’s Tunbridge Wells Festival clash with Sussex, but the county’s dire form with just two wins in 11 starts prompted today's return.
