TWO young golfers from Canterbury are today taking part in the under-14 English Boys' Open.
Levi Johnson and Dean Danton travelled to the West Midlands yesterday for a practice round at Kings Norton Golf Club near Birmingham.
Both are five handicappers, are playing 18 holes today and tomorrow in their bid to win the Reid Trophy.
Levi, 13, a pupil at Barton Court, has been playing since he was eight while Dan, 14, who attends Canterbury High, first picked up a club when he was five.
The boys are both members of the Kent County coaching scheme run by Andrew Reynolds, resident professional at Royal Cinque Ports.
Playing off single figures allows the pair to be deemed “special juniors” at Canterbury Golf Club which enables them to play in all the men’s tournaments at Scotland Hills.
They are already regular members of the East Kent League team, and are due to play in the Pilgrims Cup on Sunday, meaning a busy few days for the two talented teenagers.
