TALENTED young cricketer Louis Conradie, from Canterbury, has been getting tips from England's finest strike bowler in recent years.

The 12-year-old St Lawrence player spent an afternoon being coached in bowling, batting and fielding by Darren Gough and ECB coaches at Edgbaston.

Conradie, a pupil at Canterbury's Barton Court Grammar School, said it was an enjoyable day. "Darren Gough helped us with our bowling and the other coaches with our batting and fielding." he said.

"He was telling us where to look when we are bowling and that we should always be looking at where we are pitching the ball.

"We had a few games, and he joined in some of those, and we got to ask him some questions as well."

Conradie was given the opportunity after winning the NatWest Speed Challenge under-12s boys final at Lord's in July where he registered a top bowling speed of 58mph.

The NatWest Speed Challenge is a nationwide competition searching for the fastest young bowlers.
