Georgina Harland will be looking to repeat her success of 12 months ago when she competes in the British leg of the Modern Pentathlon World Cup which starts today (Thursday) at Millfield School in Somerset.
The 29-year-old Olympic bronze medallist from Waltham near Canterbury knows this year’s event represents a major stepping stone in her preparation for the World Championships in Hungary at the end of May, where she has to finish in the top-three to guarantee selection for the Beijing Olympics.
Harland won’t be short of support over the next few days with her parents Claire and Philip both helping organise the event.
She said: "I have good memories of last year and I always like competing on home soil and it’s great that our base at Bath is only 45 minutes away."
The women’s semi-finals take place tomorrow and the finals on Sunday.
Two of Harland’s team-mates, Katy Livingston and Heather Fell have already achieved the Olympic qualifying standard, with two more places up for grabs.
