DAVID MATHEWS scored twice in two games for Great Britain men's hockey squad's five-Test series against Argentina in Buenos Aires, but the hosts claimed an unbeatable 3-0 lead.
The latest defeat came on Tuesday night when Mathews and Mark Pearn netted inside the opening 15 minutes, only for Argentina to hit back and win 3-2.
Mathews and Pearn also scored in the previous game on Sunday night as GB went in level at 2-2 at the break, only to lose the game 5-2.
Former Canterbury forward Mathews, now playing his club hockey in Amsterdam, was eased back into action as a substitute in the first game on Saturday, following a troublesome calf injury.
Great Britain lost 3-2, despite taking the lead through Ben Hawes. Pearn was the other scorer.
Mathews, 26, is part of a 19-strong party hoping to earn selection for the Olympics in Athens next month. The final 16 names will be submitted to the British Olympic Association on Monday.
