KENT wicketkeeper Geraint Jones celebrated a remarkable Ashes series victory with his England team-mates - and thousands of cheering fans - in London.
Jones, who retained the faith of his coach, captain and colleagues in the face of media criticism during the summer, shared a triumphant open-top bus parade on Tuesday from the Mansion House to Trafalgar Square, followed by a set-piece celebration in Trafalgar Square.
They were accompanied by members of the England women's team, who also won their Test series against Australia this summer.
The parade was followed by the ceremonial presentations of the teams' Ashes trophies at Lord's.
After watching Kevin Pietersen hit 158 to salvage a draw in the fifth Test at The Oval yesterday, clinching a 2-1 series win, Jones reflected: "It's been an amazing summer and I'm just glad to have been part of it all.
"I was brought up in Australia but there's no doubt about me being English now."
For Jones, who had admitted to some sleepless nights in the run-up to the final Test, it was a happy return to the ground on which he had made his debut for Kent in a Sunday League match only four years ago.
He said: "Around this time two years ago I'd just found out I would be going on the England tour of Bangladesh.
"Being a player in such a memorable Ashes series has been unbelievable."
