JONES: assured of a warm welcome

THE Ashes will be coming to Canterbury this Thursday (September 15) in the safe hands of England and Kent wicketkeeper Geraint Jones.

Jones will be showing a replica Ashes urn to Kent supporters and the pupils of Canterbury High School when he visits the school and ground aboard the ECB’s open-top bus from 11am.

The club are also offering free afternoon admission for children hoping to see the replica urn and meet Kent’s own Ashes hero.

Kent’s director of cricket development, Jamie Clifford, said: “I am delighted to have this opportunity to build on the back of our existing programmes for club and school development.

“Our development team have coached in 272 primary schools across the county and our Ashes victory will really fire-up these programmes.”
