Kent were bowled out for just 74 in the County Championship by Lancashire at Old Trafford on Monday afternoon.
England's James Anderson ripped through the Kent batting line-up, taking an amazing 7-19 including his 1,000th first-class wicket, with a masterful display.
It's the second time this summer Kent have been bowled out for 74 - they also made that total in the 10-wicket defeat at Glamorgan in April.
After day one was washed out, play started after lunch on day two but Kent were quickly wishing it was still raining as Anderson got to work, bowling from The James Anderson end after Kent won the toss and opted to bat.
Anderson removed England team-mate Zak Crawley for a six-ball duck, caught low at second slip by Rob Jones after pushing tentatively at a ball on off stump.
Opening partner Jordan Cox followed for one in Anderson's next over, caught by Luke Wells at first slip to a ball that pitched middle and moved away to find the outside edge.
Ollie Robinson, batting at four, was next to depart, caught behind by Dane Vilas to another outswinger, to leave Kent 5-3 in five overs.
Jack Leaning edged a wide delivery to Jones at second slip for two and 17-4 became 19-6 with two wickets in as many balls. Heino Kuhn drove to first slip to depart without score, and in the process become Anderson's 1,000th first-class wicket.
Kent captain Joe Denly, leading the side with Daniel Bell-Drummond ruled out with a thumb injury, was the one man to resist Anderson's opening spell - only to depart from the first ball of the next over for 12, trapped leg before by a full Danny Lamb delivery.
Matt Milnes was strangled down the leg side for Anderson's sixth wicket, giving him figures at the time of 6-10. At 24-7, Kent were on course to record their lowest first-class total for over 150 years.
But Darren Stevens took the attack to Anderson, driving him through the covers for four and then lofting him over mid-on for another boundary, which forced Anderson to put three men on the boundary. The England man eventually came out of the attack with figures of 7-19 in 10 overs, his seventh victim was Harry Podmore, who edged behind for three with the score on 34.
Spinner James Logan kept Stevens company, although he was hit on the helmet early on by a short-pitched Luke Wood delivery. The duo took Kent past 40, the total they made against Essex at Canterbury two years ago.
Stevens' counter-attack had Kent fans hoping for more heroics after his 190 against Glamorgan earlier this summer. But Stevens picked out Alex Davies at long-off from the bowling of Lamb to depart for 19 in 24 balls with the score 51-9.
The last-pair of Logan and Matt Quinn hit a couple of boundaries to help increase the Kent total beyond more of their recent low scores with the bat - including 59 (v Somerset in 2019), 63 (v Worcs in 2013) and 64 (v Gloucs in 2018).
Quinn hit a six to long leg, caught by Matt Parkinson as his feet went over the boundary rope, and ended 13 not out as Logan was last man out, edging Lamb (3-16) behind for 11 to leave Kent 74 all out.
Kent's lowest first-class total is 18, recorded against Sussex at Gravesend in 1867.
Lancashire closed day two on 108-5 in reply, opener Davies scoring 47 in 43 balls before being removed by Matt Quinn (2-14). Stevens, Milnes and debutant Logan all took a wicket apiece.
