The outcome of Kent’s Women’s Royal London One-Day Cup match against Sussex on Monday will remain as a tie despite a controversial finale.
Kent appealed to the ECB after the umpires declared the game at Beckenham a tie, after the visitors ran a single from the last ball.
Kent’s players celebrated what they thought was a one-run win, believing the ball to be dead after keeper Lauren Griffiths whipped off the bails after a Charlotte Edwards delivery had evaded batsman Ellen Burt.
However, the ECB has refused to alter the result and will stand by the umpires' verdict, with a statement saying: "The ECB has been in communication with the umpires, and the Kent and Sussex management teams regarding events at the conclusion of the Royal London Women's One-Day Championship match between the two sides on Monday 4th May 2015.
"Following receipt of all information and discussions with the Head of ECB Association of Cricket Officials, it has been decided that there is no reason to overturn any decision made by the umpires on the day, nor the outcome of the game as had been determined on the day. The match is therefore a tie."
Kent coach Stuart Eddicott said on Twitter: "So the Spirit of Cricket has taken a big U-Turn this weekend it seems. As has telling the truth..."
The two teams are set to face each other again in a Twenty20 game at Arundel on July 5.
