Kent have named a 13-man squad for the LV County Championship Division 2 game against Essex at Chelmsford on Wednesday.

Young South African seamer Wayne Parnell is set for his debut while Matthew Coles is included ahead of both Phil Edwards and Warren Lee, after impressing in the second eleven last week. Robbie Joseph could return after recovering from a torn shoulder muscle.

Martin Van Jaarsveld leads the side in the absence of Rob Key, who is away leading England Lions against the West Indies at Derby.

The game is Matthew Walker's first against his old county since leaving in the winter. The 35-year old left hander has already made an impression for his new county, batting them to victory in the Championship against Gloucestershire last week, following up his unbeaten 69 in the Friends Provident Trophy against Northants.

Kent: (from) Van Jaarsveld (capt), Denly, Tredwell, Jones, Stevens, Kemp, Hockley, Parnell, Jones, Joseph, Saggers, Coles, Ferley.
