KENT suffered their worst morning of the season after being dismissed by relegation threatened Northamptonshire for just 108 in the opening session of their final home CricInfo Championship clash of the summer in Canterbury today.
Scottish seamer John Blain, playing his first championship match since returning from the ICC world cup qualifying tournament in Canada, was the major instigator returning career-best figures of six for 42 from his 10 over stint.
With veteran Paul Taylor chipping in with three for 58 from the Nackington Road End, Kent were skittled out for 108 inside two hours.
Only Andrew Symonds (23) and Min Patel (32) showed much resistance and only a 10th wicket stand worth 35 – the highest of the innings – helped Kent to limp to three-figures.
Patel was last man out, steering a low catch to Michael Hussey at second slip to give Tony Penberthy his only wicket as Kent succumbed in 25 overs.
By lunch, the visitors had reached six without loss.
