KENT cricket fans face another drought summer after the county club revealed they are to ban supporters from taking their own alcoholic drinks to eight of this season’s one-day games.

The club are to instigate bag searches and a ban on imported alcohol at their four home Twenty20 Cup qualifiers in Beckenham and Canterbury as well as four of their Pro40 League clashes at St Lawrence.

Kent’s operations director Jon Fordham said: "We have joined a lengthening list of counties who have been forced to make this decision.

"We had three or four fairly serious incidents of misconduct last season, including a streaker at Beckenham and allegations of racial abuse at the England A game with Pakistan A in Canterbury.

"Both incidents were fuelled by people bringing their own alcohol onto the ground."
