Kent's Ryan McLaren could become the county's first player to play in the lucrative Indian Premier League. The South African all-rounder who celebrated his 26th birthday last week is reported to have signed for Mumbai Indians, together with two of the county's former overseas stars Dwayne Bravo and Lasith Malinga.

However chief executive Paul Millman said: "We know there's interest in Ryan, but nothing has been decided. I think though we have got to be reasonably pragmatic as the thing evolves.

"The English Premier League starts in 2010 when the position will be reversed and counties will be scouring the world to recruit players."
