KENT are forced into several team changes ahead of their second pre-season warm-up game against Surrey at Canterbury tomorrow.

Min Patel will be rested after taking three for 15 in his first Kent appearance in a year, while Rob Key, Martin Saggers and James Tredwell have all been selected for the ECB side to take on Sussex in the tradition curtain raiser to the county season.

Coaching co-ordinator Simon Willis said Alamgir Sheriyar, Joe Denley and Rob Ferley will all be added to the squad that handsomely beat Northamptonshire by 92 runs.

"It was a good run out for everyone and was a very impressive way to start," said Willis after watching the county skittle out Northants inside 37 overs.

"The bowlers did well in their first competitive scenario, and though no balls were an issue, Khan and Stiff bowled with good pace and knocked their batters over.

"They were ably supported by Martin Saggers and Min Patel who's a lot further down the line to a complete recovery than we dared hope.

"The batters all tried to hit down the ground as much as we could and that worked well on what was a slower wicket.

"The opening stand of 90 was excellent, but if we're honest we did give it away a bit after that.

"Niall O'Brien did well behind the stumps and showed willing with the bat too, so all in all, it was very encouraging."
