Director of cricket Simon Cook was also co-opted to ensure performance cricket representation on the board.

Shanmuganathan said: “I’m extremely grateful for the opportunity to serve as the club’s chair and I’m also grateful to the board for placing their confidence in me.

“I’m delighted that Jamie has agreed to become vice-chair and Simon Cook has joined the board, ensuring cricket remains at the heart of all our discussions.

“I’m very much looking forward to the coming season of men’s and women’s cricket, as I’m sure you all are.”

Clifford said: “It has been a real privilege to serve as chair of Kent Cricket over the past nine months.

“Having previously indicated that I would step down following the club’s AGM, I do so with a real sense of excitement for what is to come for Kent.

“There is no doubt that this is [a] significant period for the club and I wish 'Krish' every success as he steps into the role of chair.

“I’m very much looking forward to supporting him as vice-chair as we continue to move Kent Cricket forward together.”

Born in Dartford and raised in Bromley, “Krish” has nearly 30 years of experience in leadership roles in government, financial services and corporate advisory.

He chairs two listed investment companies, primarily focused on Asian equities.

Previously, he was a partner at Hakluyt & Company - a global strategic advisory firm.

He oversaw external research at Fidelity Investments prior to that and started his career with a 10-year stint in the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

He plays cricket for Farningham in the Kent Village League and is involved in coaching their junior sides.
