Daniel Bell-Drummond has penned a Kent contract extension amid his red-hot batting form.

The news comes just a day after the batsman completed an historic unbeaten 300 - the fourth highest score by an individual in an innings for Kent of all time - in their innings and 15 run County Championship away Division 1 victory over basement boys Northamptonshire.

Even before then, though, he had struck 429 runs across six Blast matches, including 111 in a win over Middlesex at Canterbury, at an average of 107.25 and, now, has scored 854 runs in June alone.

On extending his time at Kent until the end of the 2025 season, Bell-Drummond, who will turn 30 this August, said: “I have been at Kent since I was seven-years-old, so I’m always very proud to wear the Kent shirt and I still get the same feeling every time I put it on.

“This is a special group of players that we have at the club and, after our recent wins in white-ball cricket, we’re focused on giving everything to bring more success to Canterbury in the near future.”

The Lewisham-born Academy product has made more than 350 appearances for Kent since making his first-team debut in 2011, scoring 15,000 runs across all formats and averages more than 35 overall. He’s one of only six Kent cricketers to score a century in all formats, too.

“Daniel is an integral part of the Kent team,” said director of cricket Paul Downton.

“He has worked so hard in recent years to improve his game and it’s been great to see him being rewarded with big scores in both red-ball and white-ball cricket.

“When he is playing well, the side plays well.

“We’re delighted that Daniel has committed his future to his boyhood club for at least another two seasons.”

He’ll aim to continue his rich vein of form when Kent Spitfires return to T20 Blast action for their last two group-stage games as they target a place in the Quarter-Finals.

Kent play Sussex Sharks in a sold-out match at Canterbury on Friday evening and visit Somerset – who they beat two years ago in the Final at Edgbaston - two days later.
