CANTERBURY duo Mel Clewlow and Becky Duggan are among 11 players nominated for the Hockey Writers' Club's UK female player of the year for 2005.

The pair are on a shortlist which also includes Jenny Bimson and Cristina Cullen (Leicester), Carolyn Reid and Tina Cullen (Bowdon Hightown), Jane Smith and Kate Walsh (Slough), Rhona Simpson (Giffnock), Sarah Thomas (Rotterdam) and Lisa Wooding (Chelmsford).

Voting closes on December 9.
