Pilgrims in with a chance to play

WITH one eye on a demanding league programme in the next three weeks, Canterbury Rugby Club rest a number of leading players for Sunday's Kent Plate game against Sheppey at Merton Lane.

Vice-captain Frank Davies, Eoin Stewart, Andy Bernthal and Ken Aseme are all missing from a 20-man squad from which a final selection will be made.

A number of the club's successful Pilgrims side are included in the potential line-up.

The city club will definitely go into the match against the Kent Division 2 side with a new half-back pairing of Dan Weigh and Ken Bingham, while there is a return to senior action for flanker Mark Cullen, fit again after a four-month injury lay-off.

In accordance with the competition rules, the kick-off is 2pm.
