Mark Broadhurst raised £4,769.54 for the Teenage Cancer Trust during his highly successful year as Canterbury Golf Club’s 2023 club captain.
Broadhurst presented a cheque to Teenage Cancer Trust area representative Lynn Hyder at the clubhouse and said: “I would like to say how proud I am to be handing over such a fantastic amount of money, raised by the generosity of Canterbury Golf Club members.
‘’My thanks to all the Lockdown Fore Luke charity golf day organisers and in particular to our chairman Steve Eeles and Paul Redfearn who went above and beyond in not only donating and collecting money, but also giving their time and commitment to such a great cause.
“The Teenage Cancer Trust is a really great charity to support while also keeping alive the memory of our late former member Luke McIntosh, who would be very proud to know that his friends are still thinking of him.”
Hyder added: “The money will go a long way towards helping youngsters who are unfortunate to hear those dreaded words: ‘You have cancer’.
“This support helps us to make sure specialised Teenage Cancer Nurses, support teams and hospital units are there for them throughout their cancer treatment and beyond.”
