Canterbury head coach Andy Pratt has targeted a second straight win to help Canterbury establish themselves near the top of a tight National 2 South table.
The city club powered their way to a fine 28-15 win over Old Elthamians with two late tries in their home opener at Merton Lane on Saturday.
Pratt added: “Considering the disruption we’ve had and the fact we were playing a good team full of confidence, it was a good win.
“We are pleased with our home form. We have some tough games coming at home this season and this was just the first of them.”
Pratt’s side, who now sit fifth, are back on the road at Worthing – newly relegated from National 1 – on Saturday.
The Sussex side are one of four winless teams after two games and Pratt said: “I’d almost rather they had won last weekend – the fact they narrowly missed out means they’re likely to be extra motivated.
“It’s going to be tough but we’ve got no new injuries and hopefully we can put in another good performance.”
He added: “It’s early, of course but the table already looks tight. There’s only four of the 16 teams who have won their two games and there have been a lot of tight games without much between the sides.”
Brook Cowan (knee) has a slight chance of returning this weekend, although Martyn Beaumont’s head injury is likely to keep him out for at least two more weeks.
Pratt and Canterbury will host a Georgian RFU party visiting the UK to learn about developing partnerships between clubs and local schools.
The delegation, which includes the performance director, national team head coach and academy and under-20 coaches, will visit the Simon Langton School on Friday before heading to Merton Lane for talks.
