Andy Pratt says Canterbury are focused on improving their away form to boost their National 2 South promotion chances.

The city club are fourth, 11 points off the top after a battling to a 33-30 win over Ampthill at Merton Lane on Saturday, scoring a late winner despite being reduced to 13 men at one stage late on against their promotion rivals.

Pratt said: “We played well. It was a great game of rugby, a fantastic advert for our division.”
Next up is a trip to Bishop’s Stortford who are just four points behind them in sixth.

He added: “Our away form is still an area we need to work on, though. There are two or three games we should have won this season which would have made a lot of difference.

“To win games when you’re away you need to play more on the edge, maybe we need to do that. Stortford are in form and only just got edged out of a win late on Saturday at Redruth, which is a difficult place to go.”

Flanker George Micans came through a run-out for the 2nds on Saturday after a long-term ankle injury and could feature while Alex Veale may return. Ricky Mackintosh (ankle) and Kwaku Asiedu (hamstring) will be assessed.
