Zak Crawley has hit the fastest ever Test match hundred by an England opener.
The 24-year-old reached his century in just 86 balls with an off drive for four against Pakistan on Thursday.
It was a third Test hundred for the Kent opener, and his second against Pakistan having previously hit a double ton at Southampton in 2020.
The previous quickest ton by an England opener was in 95 balls by Graham Gooch against India in 1990 while Crawley's knock was the fourth- fastest century by an England player.
Crawley resumed after lunch on day one in Rawalpindi on 91 after a stunning first session, which saw him put on 174 in just 27 overs alongside opener Ben Duckett.
There was a major scare for Crawley when he was given out on the field on 99. But he opted to review and the ball was just missing leg stump.
Duckett was trapped lbw for 107 by Zahid Mahmood having put on 233 for the first wicket with Crawley, who was then dismissed in the next over for 122 from 111 balls, bowled by debutant Haris Rauf.
It was a second Test ton this year for Crawley who scored 121 against West Indies in Antigua in March.
England closed day one on 506-4 with Harry Brook's unbeaten 101 scored at an even quicker rate than Crawley's century.
Crawley told Sky Sports: "It was a good deck and I thought like I played well. It was a tricky summer and it's never easy to open the batting in England but thankfully I got a hundred today.
"I was trying to be positive and felt in good touch, I got lucky on a few occasions but I rode my luck and I felt in good touch leading into this game. I was pleased with how I played.
"I was disappointed when I got out as I wanted a few more."
England are playing the first of a three-match Test series in Pakistan.
