HEAD coach Danny Vaughan believes his Canterbury side have adjusted well to their new life in National League South.
The club starts the second half of the season in fifth place after suffering just five defeats in 14 games before Christmas.
Vaughan said: "We have come a long, long way this season. I think we have surprised a few people around the National League, and could now finish in an upper mid-table position.
"The other two promoted clubs, Clifton and Chinnor, are struggling, having relied a lot on overseas players in the past, but National League rules are that you can only play two in one game.
"The top four, Southend, Lydney, Westcombe Park and North Walsham, who have dropped off the pace, should be there at the end of the season.
"We have still to play three of them, all of them big games, so we could have a say over who finishes in the top two."
