ENGLAND centre Stuart Abbott is due to attend a mini-rugby festival in the county this weekend.
The Harlequins star, a member of England’s World Cup-winning squad in 2003, hopes to attend the East Kent mini rugby festival at Canterbury Rugby Club on Sunday with club-mate Luke Sherriff, to meet youngsters from 10 clubs in the area, taking part in tournaments from under-seven to under-11 level.
South African-born Abbott won Zurich Premiership finals with his former club, Wasps, in 2003 and 2004, and scored the first try in their defeat of Toulouse in the Heineken Cup final at Twickenham in 2004.
He scored on his England debut against Wales, and was also among the try-scorers during England’s win over Uruguay in the World Cup.
The day will be sponsored by Land Rover and there will also be a chance to win an England rugby shirt, signed by the national team.
Another prize available will be coaching for a child, from Land-Rover rugby ambassador Josh Lewsey, the Wasps, England and British Lions star.
The action on Sunday starts at 10am.
