CANTERBURY rugby coach Danny Vaughan has named three new arrivals in his squad to meet North Walsham in Saturday's opening National Division 3 game but is gambling on race against time.
He is hoping to complete fast track registrations for Australian hooker Bernard Kubainski and former Bracknell forwards Chris Endersby and Ryan Gregory.
Providing the formalities can be overcome all three will be in the starting line-up against one of the best sides in the league.
Skipper Chris Hinkins, who has proved his fitness after knee surgery earlier in the summer, will lead a 19-man squad which includes fourteen of last season's successful side. Canterbury know they will have to match a powerful North Walsham pack but will look to their classy back division to put the Norfolk team under pressure.
Both the First and Pilgrims teams make the journey to the eastern county, with Pilgrims taking on North Walsham 2nd in a Canterbury Shield game.
The team coach leaves the club at 8.45am and a supporters coach, departing at the same time, is available at a cost of £10 per head.
Canterbury squad: G.De Kock, A.Pratt, J.Reilly, P.Sykes, M.Melford, W.Wolmarans, N.Woodbridge, J.Forsyth, B.Kubainski, M.Pinnick, R.Keir, C.Endersby, C.Hinkins, M.Cullen, R.Gregory, D.Weston, S.Apps, D.Tolman, P.Gill.
