CANTERBURY bid for their fourth successive Kent Cup triumph when they take on Blackheath at Old Colfeians’ Horn Park ground on Sunday (3pm).
City will also be looking to complete a cup hat-trick over their National League 2 opponents, having beaten them in the previous two finals, but head coach Danny Vaughan admits that much will depend on what sort of side Blackheath decide to field.
With Kent Cup ties taking place on Sundays, clubs often field weakened sides, especially in the early rounds, if they have played a 1st XV league game the day before.
Vaughan said: “In the two previous finals we know that Blackheath didn’t field their best team and so we will looking at their team sheet with great interest.
“They have got to decide whether to stick with the players who have got them to the final, or whether to field their best team.
“If they decide to field a full-strength team, then, as a National League 2 side, they should beat us but in a way I hope they do because it will be good for our players.
“It will give the game a bit more of an edge, although whatever side they put out will be hard to beat.”
