ANGLER Alan Setterfield, from Margate, has won the Canterbury and District Angling Association's Cooke Pike Cup competition.

His 10 fish gave him a massive total weight of 63lb 1oz of pike, with his best fish tipping the scales at 15lb 12oz.

Competition organiser John Guild, also from Thanet, was second among the 15 competitors, with 57lb 10oz, and eight fish. His best fish weighed 12lb 8oz.

Both anglers caught on float fished roach baits, with one of Guild's fish falling to legered dead baits.

Using similar tactics, Roy Reynolds, from Margate, chose to fish at the other end of the deeps, just off the island, to secure third place with a total of 24lb.
