Georgina Harland produced her best World Cup finish of the year finishing sixth in the Modern Pentathlon World Cup event at Kladno in the Czech Republic.
Harland, Britain’s Athens 2004 Olympic gold medallist, produced a scintillating 3km run, in the final discipline, climbing nine places, crossing the line in 10m 9.24 secs, the fourth fastest time of the day.
The result will be a useful confidence booster for 29-year- old Harland, from Waltham near Canterbury, coming two weeks before they go head-to-head for Olympic places at the World Championships in Hungary at the end of the month.
Team-mate Heather Fell finished third to take the bronze medal, while fellow Brit Mhairi Spence was fourth, and GB performance director Jan Bartu said: "If athletes are serious about going to the Olympics, they need to be up to this standard. Having three in the top six today proved that they are, and it’s a good sign ahead of the worlds.
Georgina finished the 10m air pistol shoot in 29th with 170 points and her 20 victories in the fencing, pushed her up 18th. Harland clocked 2.16.25 in the swimming, picking up 1288 points.
Harland only had one fence down in the equestrian arena, totalling 4316 points, before finishing impressively.
