KENT’S girl cricketers will be sponsored during games this season to help raise money for the Lord’s Taverners.
Eighty girls aged 10 to 19 will play for Kent this season, many of whom have benefited from using a Lord's Taverners youth cricket or kwik cricket equipment bag in the past.
In return, Kent's girls will be helping other young people, including those with disabilities, have a sporting chance.
During county matches, every run will be sponsored for 1p. The rate increases to 10p for each catch or wicket, and rises to £1 for a hat-trick.
As an incentive to raise as much as possible, the Lord's Taverners are awarding a limited edition Lord's Taverners Christmas Teddy to the leading girl fundraiser in each of the five Kent age group teams.
Every girl that raises money will receive a special Lord's Taverners certificate.
