ST LAWRENCE held their nerve in another perfectly-timed run chase to land a one-wicket, last over win against Bromley at Highland Court on Saturday.
The victory, which moves Saints up to sixth in the Kent League Premier Division, owed much to stunning all-round performances by Murray Creed and Greg Betz.
Batting first after losing the toss, Bromley posted a respectable 233 all out from 50.1 overs built around 117 from ex-Surrey and Essex player Nadeem Shahid.
Bromley’s next top-scorer in an unbalanced scorecard was Ruel Braithwaite with 24 as Saints pegged back the run-rate through good bowling from Ben Trott, who took 3-68 in his first game for a month, Betz, who bowled a long stint for 3-62, Alex Day (2-45) and Creed with 2-24.
Saints successfully chased down their total to reach 234-9 after 58.4 overs in another thrilling finish.
Creed cracked seven fours in his top-score of 92.
After the victory, Saints’ opening bat Dominic Chambers said: “It was another good team display with top all-round performances from Greg and Murray.
“Greg bowled 15 overs of medium-pace on the reel in humid conditions and then went out and won us the game with the bat.
This Saturday Lewis Jenkins’ side travel to the Nevill to take on struggling Tunbridge Wells.
