Sweet success for record-breaker Owen

PARTIALLY-sighted swimmer Owen Sweet had a busy but rewarding time in the Disability Sport England BT national short course championships at Ponds Forge, Sheffield. The 25-year-old University of Kent student achieved top three places in all nine of his indvidual events, and helped set a new national record as part of the south east visually impaired team which won the 4x100m freestyle relay.

Sweet, who is studying for a masters degree in space science, achieved five second places, in the 50m breaststroke, 50m backstroke, 50m freestyle, 100m backstroke and 200m individual medley.

He also finished third over 100m in the freestyle, breaststroke and individual medley, and over 50m in the butterfly.
