James Tredwell is hailing next week as a massive one for his Kent Spitfires side ahead of three Yorkshire Bank40 Group A contests in five days.

The competition resumes against Worcestershire Royals on Sunday (1.45pm) after a two-month break, with the Spitfires third, four points behind leaders Nottinghamshire Outlaws and trailing Northamptonshire Steelbacks, who they face at Wantage Road on Tuesday (3.40pm), by one.

It’s a swift return to New Road following the rain-affected four-day draw which finished on Monday but this weekend’s game is arguably the more important.

Skipper Tredwell said: “Having to make the trip so quickly is not ideal but we have to take the travelling on the chin.

“All three games are massive against good sides but we can’t get too far ahead of ourselves.
“We want to come out of the Worcester game on the right side first, take things forward and hopefully make a bit of progress in the competition this season.”

Spitfires host bottom side Warwickshire next Thursday (4.40pm) and hope results go their way, to keep them in contention for a place in next month’s semi-finals.

Head coach Jimmy Adams and Tredwell will finalise their squad after practice on Friday, with Sam Billings, Matt Coles and Adam Riley all under consideration, joining the 11 on duty in the championship game earlier in the week.
