THE East Kent Mavericks American football team are holding an open day on Sunday to give potential players and supporters a taste of the sport.

The British American Football League Division 2 South East side are inviting interested parties to join a special session on the Chaucer Technology School playing field in Spring Lane, Canterbury, from 10.30am.

As well as having players at the open day, some of whom are involved with the Great Britain squad, the Mavs will have their coaching staff on hand to answer questions.

Visitors will also have the chance to talk to some of the Mavericks and try the different techniques involved in the sport for themselves.

The youth team takes players aged 14-18 while the senior side takes players any older.
