Faversham Town boss Ray Turner hopes to see his side test themselves against Championship players when a Millwall XI visit Salters Lane on Saturday (3pm).
Turner could potentially have a squad of more than 30 at his command for Town’s first pre-season game, with the under-21 side augmenting the returning first-team squad, complete with new arrivals George Monger, Dean Grant, Sam Bewick and the returning Wayne Wilson and Rob French.
Turner said: “It was mooted on Tuesday night that they might have five or six senior players in their squad but you never know with pre-season but you want to play games that capture the interest like this.”
Lilywhites’ player-coach Danny Hockton, who began his career at The New Den more than 15 years ago, is expected to get some minutes up front, while another of Hockton’s former clubs, Maidstone, visits Town on Tuesday (7.45pm).
Turner said: “We’ll probably use two teams on Saturday. I don’t want to disrupt the game too much for the supporters, or our kitman, with a load of substitutes."
