Jonathan Trott is due to discuss his future at Kent having spent the last four months as a coach in Canterbury.
The former England international arrived in April originally to assist the county during its Royal London One-Day Cup campaign.
Having later extended his stay up until the start of the T20 Blast, he remains part of the Kent set-up two games into the white-ball competition.
Head coach Matt Walker said: "Jonathan is still with us, he's juggling a few things at the moment.
"He's doing a bit up there with England before the test matches, he'll be with us for a limited period but will be around as much as he can.
"He's added a lot to our group, it's been great to have somebody of his experience around, it helps the batters to tap into his brain.
"His coaching is at a fledging stage right now and he's done great with the boys."
While open to the possibility, Walker admits he is unsure over the chances of Trott making his role permanent at the club.
He added: "That's certainly something we'll look at, we will look to strengthen our coaching group this off-season.
"Whether John is prepared to move to Kent is a big question, we'll see. We'll have a chat in the next few weeks about it.
"It's a big commitment with re-locating. England will also probably have an eye on him to fast track him into their system.
"He's learning and he's getting the County Championship experience he wanted with us and we're benefitting from that too.
"It's working well mutually, we'll see what happens further down the line."
Kent enter Friday's clash with Essex looking to maintain their unbeaten start following wins over Somerset and Hampshire at the weekend.
"I'm very pleased, it's always good to get off to a good start," said Walker.
"You want a couple of wins early on just so you aren't playing catch up, it gives everyone real confidence further down the line.
"We had two very different games, defended really well in the first and then ended up chasing in the second where we managed to come through and get the win."
