SOUTH African international Jen Wilson scored twice as Canterbury Ladies got back to winnings ways with a 3-0 win in the National League Premier Division against Ipswich at Polo Farm on Saturday.
They suffered a blow before the game when England goalkeeper Becky Duggan withdrew because of illness, but started and brightly and took the lead after 16 minutes when Wilson crossed from the right and Hayley Brown scored with a reverse stick shot.
The home side had to wait until 15 minutes from time to get their second, captain Mel Clewlow splitting the Ipswich defence with a great pass to Wilson. who played a neat one-two with Susannah Townsend, before scoring at full stretch.
Wilson scored her second following a well-worked penalty corner routine as Canterbury maintained their 100 per cent home record, but dropped to fourth place on goal difference following Bowden Hightown's 1-1 draw against Chelmsford on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Canterbury men's battle against relegation continues after their 5-4 home defeat by fellow-strugglers Hampstead & Westminster. They stay second from bottom, despite a hat-trick by England star David Matthews. Greg Nicol was the other scorer.
