TWO wins from two matches has given Canterbury a flying start to the new season.

The tries, at two apiece, were all scored in the first half, and it was left to Wessel Wolmarans's kicking - three penalty goals, a conversion and a late drop goal - to earn the city club four league points.

Canterbury did have the satisfaction of providing the most spectacular moment of the match in scoring their second try just before half time.

Havant were looking dangerous but the attack broke down in the 22 metre area and the city club countered swiftly to put Miles Littlechild into space down the left flank.

The centre's curving 70 metre run saw him leave home full-back Dicky Dukes stranded with a lovely change of pace and ended behind the posts.

Hooker Tom Rogers went over for the other.

Head coach Danny Vaughan welcomed the away win but said he was disappointed with his team's overall display.
