A mouthwatering feast with all the trimmings is the centrepiece of any cracking Christmas Day.
From traditional turkey to beautiful beef, MB Farms at Parsonage Farm, Stockbury, has what you’re looking for.
And when you buy from the farm shop, you can do it safe in the knowledge that all the animals have been raised on site and you can trace their journey from the field to the plate and back.
Your contented Christmas turkey arrived at the Stockbury site at just a day old back in the summer, and spent months being cared for compassionately and with the freedom to roam in the fields.
According to owner Nick Brown, however, they are more home birds. “We rear them right through and they all have opportunity of going outside – but most of them don’t seem to want to go outside. Some of them have a little wander.”
Rearing and caring for healthy beef, sheep, turkeys and chickens, Nick and his team have some 175 cows, 400 ewes and 650 turkeys on site.
For the turkeys, as Christmas beckons, they are matured for a fortnight, which improves the flavour of the meat.
All the meat raised on the farm is sold in the quality butcher's shop. Apart from turkey, chicken and also rack of beef has also become popular for the festive table, said Nick.
“We’re really passionate about what we have on the farm and when customers come to us, they know exactly where their meat is coming from. When we say our meat is local, we really mean it,” he said.
Succulent pies made from scratch are also offered by MB Farms after it took on AJ Barkaways in West Street, Faversham, in October last year.
Making 36 different types of pies, including game pie and sausage rolls, the business is open from 8am to 5pm Monday to Saturday.
MB Farms is also open 8am to 5pm Monday to Saturday, and 8am to 3pm on Sundays. For details call 01785 842401 or visit www.mbfarms.co.uk
