What started out as a cute idea by a few beauty brands is now a big business. There are so many advent calendars choc-a-bloc with cosmetics, it's a little mind-blowing.

There's even a Christmas Day treat in this uber-cute calendar from Marks & Spencer. Available from November 9, the catch is you have to spend £35 on clothing and home. But, if you do that (and let's face it, who isn't going to spend £35 in M&S in the run-up to Christmas?), for another £35, this can be yours.
