This was the scene in one narrow country lane after a motorist swerved to avoid a squirrel.

The animal-lover behind the wheel of the Land Rover was travelling along Sparepenny Lane, Eynsford when the critter shot out in front of her.

Police and South East Coast Ambulance Service attended the scene and the woman was taken to hospital. Luckily her injuries were minor.

The road was closed following the crash at 1.15pm last Wednesday, to allow the vehicle to be recovered. It reopened at 4pm.
