Letters will be popping through the doors of thousands of EDF customers - telling them whether they're eligible for £50 compensation.
Nearly 93,000 homes were without power for up to three days last week, after a cable at Dartford was tampered with by vandals.
But only those who were without electricity continuously for more than 24 hours will be eligible.
In a statement EDF Energy says the “incident is outside the scope of the Electricity Guaranteed Standards regime set out by our regulator Ofgem.”
It goes on to say that due to it not being “a failure of our network, EDF Energy Networks would like to offer a goodwill gesture.
“Payments are not in any way intended to compensate businesses and residents for any losses they may have incurred. It is a goodwill gesture in recognition of the inconvenience caused to those who suffered the most.”
The company is telling its customers to also contact their insurance company.
If you do not receive a letter from EDF within 10 working days and were affected by the power cut you can write to EDF Energy Networks, Dartford Payments Team, Fore Hamlet, Ipswich, IP3 8AA.
