Kent drivers delayed leaving the county with heavy traffic at Dartford Crossing

Motorists attempting to leave Kent earlier today were met with delays on one of the county's most popular routes.

Drivers heading for the Dartford Crossing were stuck in seven mile long queues as people tried to leave Kent via the M25.

Traffic was queueing on the anti-clockwise carriageway at the crossing, with congestion is back to Junction 4 for the A21 for Orpington.Travel time was more than 60 minutes.

Things have cleared up now on that part of the motorway, which prompted officials to urge people trying to leave the county, especially via the crossing, to check before they travel.

Earlier this month the AA estimated almost 18million cars would join the Christmas getaway, with traffic warnings for the M25 and M1.
