A motorcyclist has died following a serious crash on the A2 this morning (May 10).
The London-bound carriageway, just before the junction for Dartford Heath, near Wilmington, was shut following the incident while police officers investigated.
The force and paramedics were called to the crash involving a grey BMW motorcycle and a black Kawasaki motorcycle at around 8am.
A man, in his 30s, died at the scene. His next of kin have been informed.
A second man was also taken to a London hospital with serious injuries.
Part of the A2 was closed causing long tailbacks from the M25 at the Darenth Interchange to the A2018 Old Bexley Lane at Dartford Heath.
One motorist caught up in the queues said they saw seven police cars, two fire engines and two ambulances.
The air ambulance was also seen circling overhead.
National Highways officers were providing assistance and, as of 10am, traffic was being released from the back of the queues.
The closure was in place to allow for investigation work but was fully reopened by 4.15pm.
