Adam Gemili will focus solely on the 100m at the British Olympic trials this weekend after withdrawing from the 200m.
Gemili (pictured) made the decision despite improving his 200m PB by 0.09s to become the fastest junior in Europe this year at the weekend.
He said: "It was not really a hard decision, although I feel I can go faster in the 200m, I still prefer the shorter distance, and I don't want to overwork myself and do too much."
Gemili revealed he had received congratulations from British Olympic spring rivals Dwain Chambers, Christian Malcolm and Marlon Devonish since his breakthrough, but refuses to set targets when he competes alongside them at the weekend.
He said: "My target is simply to go out there and run a race I'm happy with. Obviously I'm looking forward to racing all of the country's top sprinters and hopefully mixing it up with them a little.
"for me there is no pressure at all. i had no intention to even do these trials at the start of the year so the fact i’m doing them now is just a big bonus.” – adam gemili
"I have nothing really to prove and I am just racing for the experience and to see how I handle the atmosphere.
"I'm just looking to go out there and enjoy it."

Even if he does secure a place at London 2012, Gemili could yet opt to compete at the World Junior Championships in Barcelona from 10-15 July rather than in the Olympics which get underway on July 27.
The men's 100m heats begin on Friday with the semi-finals and final taking place on Saturday with three individual places in TeamGB up for grabs.
