The self-titled “world’s oldest rapper” is organising a gig to raise money for a foundation that helps get troubled youngsters on the right track.

Ninety-year-old Joy Philippou, of Stone House Lane, Dartford, featured on KentOnline last month ahead of her Star Foundation’s next event, which takes place this Sunday.

She will be performing some of her raps and the stage will be open for talented youngsters and other audience members to show off their talents.

“Some of these people are not as privileged as others and their life seems to take a direction that is undesirable to society and not beneficial to themselves,” said Mrs Philippou, who has been appointed an MBE for her service to young people.

“They might turn to crime, or if they’re isolated they feel they want to join a gang or something like that.

“The point is showing that there is another way and they can live a fuller life.”
