More than £1,500 has been raised for a father who died after a crash.

Named locally as Danny Adair the 32-year-old was driving his white Peugeot Partner van on Saturday, June 18. He ended up mounting the green at the junction with Green Street Green Road and Darenth Hill, and overturning the vehicle at around 7.30pm.

Mr Adair was reportedly soon to be a dad to a baby boy and a gofundme page has been set up to pay for his funeral.

A Facebook page R.I.P DANNY BOY XXX has been set up, and on it his partner Michelle Devenney wrote: “My gorgeous fiancé it’s not fair that you’ve left me I feel so angry at the world. You made our lives so happy. The only thing keeping me going is your baby Elijah, and your step kids were all in pieces and just wish you’d come home. I’m heartbroken beyond belief. I love you so much and always will. All my heart, your Shazbat.”

One woman, whose house overlooks the scene, said she heard a huge bang as the car crashed into a number of signs, and flipped.

Laura Knight, 26, added: “I saw his van on the side, I ran out, there was glass everywhere. I said to the other people ‘do you want me to help you push it over?’, because they were all pushing it to try and get him out.

“There was loads of us. But someone told us to leave the van because it started smoking.

“There was about five people on the phone to emergency services and they turned up in minutes, I was quite surprised.

“Two ambulances, two fire engines, and loads of police.

“They cut him out, covered him up and moved him into the ambulance. I was out there for hours waiting to see if he was alright, but he wasn’t.”

“His mum arrived and they took him away, but the police were still here until gone 11pm. They moved their car and blocked all the road off, so I had to be escorted out my house by police.

“I keep thinking about it. It’s doing my head in, driving me mad. I’m trying to work out what happened. I wish I’d seen it to be honest with you, not because I want to, but to help the police.”

The air ambulance, Kent Fire and Rescue Service and paramedics were at the scene and officers from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit would like to speak to anyone who saw the van crash or to anyone who saw the vehicle before the incident.

Call 01622 798538 quoting MS/119/16.
