Arrests after digger and van ‘stolen’ from Cobham Terrace, Greenhithe

Two suspected thieves have been arrested after a digger was reported stolen.

The men were arrested after police received a report that people had been seen loading the machinery onto the back of a van in Cobham Terrace in Greenhithe around 8.30pm on July 1.

Two men matching the same description were then spotted by officers in Denton Road, Dartford, securing the digger on the side of the road.

After a vehicle check revealed the digger had been reported stolen from London in March both men, aged 38 and 44-years-old, from the local area, were arrested on suspicion of theft in connection to the two vehicles.

Officers released the 38-year-old man on bail until September 27, and the 44-year-old man was released on bail until September 29.
