Three men have been arrested on suspicion of fraud.

The trio - aged 38, 40 and 41 from Bedford - were arrested after reports motorists were being stopped on roads around Greenhithe asking for cash in exchange for jewellery.

They were arrested around 2.30pm yesterday and all three were bailed to return to police on January 13.

Inspector Gary Woodward said: "I would advise anybody who is approached in the street by somebody offering cheap goods or seeking cash in exchange for something that appears valuable, to decline.

"Doing so will reduce the risk of people buying items that are stolen, faulty or of minimal value."
